Rapper 50 Cent and Robert De Niro are in negotiations to co-star in the police thriller, New Orleans.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the movie is set against the backdrop of Hurricane Katrina.

New Orleans centers on a police officer who thought his partner was killed by Hurricane Katrina, but soon discovers he was actually shot.

50 Cent will play De Niro's new partner and as they investigate the murder, a world of police corruption is uncovered.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project was originally set in Los Angeles, but was moved to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina devastated the city.

Production is slated to begin in New Orleans in February.

Dem 'The Hollywood Reporter' zufolge, übernimmt Rapper 50 Cent den Part eines Cops (!!!) in Robert De Niros neuem Film New Orleans. Der Film spielt im post-Katrina New Orleans, wo Robert De Niro, der einen Officer spielt, eine mysteriöse Entdeckung macht. De Niro glaubte bis dato, dass sein ehemaliger Partner während des Hurricanes, nicht wie bisher angenommen gestorben ist, sondern ermordet wurde. An dieser Stelle kommt Fitty ins Spiel, als De Niros neuer Partner und Helfer bei den darauffolgenden Ermittlungen.

Unter anderem werden sie einen Korruptionsskandal in den Reihen der, wie sollte es anders sein, Polizei aufdecken. Ernsthafte Konkurrenz für Mos Def? Nächstes Jahr wissen wir mehr. Aber besser als 'Get Rich or Die Tryin' kann es nur werden.

50 Cent is slated to star alongside Robert De Niro in the upcoming police thriller New Orleans.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, rapper and Get Rich or Die Tryin' star 50 Cent (whose real name is Curtis Jackson) and Robert De Niro are currently in final negotiations for starring roles in a new movie about police corruption, set during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The film, which was formerly titled "MicrowavePark," was initially set in Los Angeles but was moved to New Orleans post-Hurricane Katrina.

De Niro will star in New Orleans as a cop who believes his partner died during the storm, but later learns he was shot and killed. After being assigned a new partner (50 Cent), the duo delve into the shooting investigation, which leads them deeper into the realm of crooked police.

Production on the independent film is planned to begin in New Orleans this February. Tim Hunter will direct for Millennium Films.

Considered one of America's greatest actors, De Niro has starred in over 75 films, including the upcoming spy thriller The Good Shepherd which he also directed. 50 recently wrapped production on Home of the Brave, a drama about veterans of the war in Iraq, which also stars Samuel Jackson, Christina Ricci and Jessica Biel.
