50 Cent Plays Drill Sergeant In G-Unit's 'Big As Possible' Terminate On Sight Videos

'The video is sort of 'Full Metal Jacket,' ' director Jesse Terrero says of 'Ryder Pt. 2' clip's military feel.

NEW YORK — 50 Cent's two-step is being replaced by a march in the video for "Ryder Pt. 2." A few weeks ago, Fif was in his full general garb, directing his soldiers on the video's Brooklyn set.

"One, two, three," said 50, dressed in a white naval coat and blue hat. As soon as he said the number three, the dozen or so fatigue-clad cadets standing behind him — including Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks — turned to their right. This continued until everyone, including the G-Unit, had made a full circle.

"Left! Your left! Your left, right, left," one of the crew members working for director Jesse Terrero yelled out, signaling 50's minions to march in place. It was about eight hours into the 12-hour day — the second 12-hour day in a row. The Unit were maximizing their time before going off on tour in Australia. In addition to "Ryder Pt. 2," the trio also shot a clip for "I Like the Way She Do It." The two visuals will be put together as one big video.

"It's a street single, and the streets embraced it," Terrero said of "Ryder." "We went more cinematic with the imagery. We're giving it [a] 'Many Men' kind of look. We gave it a bleached bypass of the film. It's a little harder. The guys are wearing the uniforms. It's interesting. The video is sort of 'Full Metal Jacket.' 50 comes in and address[es] all the soldiers."

There's obviously a lot more estrogen in "I Like the Way She Do It."

"This is my respect to the Hype Williams and guys like that," Terrero added. "When I was coming up, they were doing these major set videos. And everything felt big and dynamic. I think we lost that along the way. Based on the climate of the music industry, videos have started getting smaller and smaller. You've been feeling that visually."

Taking it back to a more grandiose way of delivering videos is more expensive, but 50 can afford it. "It starts getting pricey, but you have to find creative ways to do things," Terrero said. "We found creative ways to make the sets look bigger than they appear."

"This video, Jesse is dope," 50 said. "Jesse is my Hype Williams. Creatively, this is what matched the sound of the music. To bring it together as big as possible is always a go. This project is just as important as my solo project.

"It's exciting because this project, creatively, is different," Fif said about the G-Unit LP, Terminate on Sight (due June 24). "Both Banks and Tony offer something different. When it comes together, it meshes well every time."

Except when Yayo wants to get a little too fly with his choice of wardrobe. "You can't wear shades in a soldier suit," said 50, who couldn't contain a chuckle as his childhood friend was asking the stylist for a pair of sunnies. "He's f---ing crazy!"
