Bei den Billboard Music Awards 06 gab es eine große Gewinnerin: Mary J. Blige, die Queen of HipHop/Soul heimste mit ihrem Album 'The Breakthrough' und der Single 'Be Without You' neun(!) Preise ein. Damit dominierte sie die gesamte R&B-Sektion.

American Idol Carrie Underwood & T.I. bekamen beide je 5 Awards, womit sie die Country und Rap-Sparte abdeckten.

Die Trophäe Künstlerin des Jahres konnte Rihanna mit nach Hause nehmen, während Chris Brown das männliche Pendant einsackte.
